Supreme Court refuses to ban review of Trump's income tax documents

The Supreme Court of the United States has refused to bar former President Donald Trump from examining his income tax documents.

Trump was prosecuted during his presidency after he was accused of underpaying his income tax.

Written arguments were filed in this case in October 2019.

However, the Supreme Court did not announce the order on the petition filed by Trump that his income tax accounts could not be subjected to public scrutiny.

He also argued that since the case arose during his presidency, he could receive a special exemption as president.

Following Trump’s defeat in the current U.S. presidential election, the Supreme Court has ruled that his request can be rejected and income tax accounts reviewed.

The Supreme Court did not say in the order the reason for the delay and whether Trump would be offered any special privileges.
