Rihanna has been accused of cultural disunity and religious inconsistency after posting an image of herself wearing a pendent depicting the Hindu god Ganesha.
The photo, posted on her Twitter and Instagram accounts on Tuesday, shows singer Lavender Satin boxing couple underwear label Savage X Fenty.

Among her matching purple jewelry is a bracelet, a pair of large earrings and a diamond carving of an elephant-headed goddess – this has been branded as “disrespectful” by some Hindu and other social media users in India.
Rihanna’s Fenty fashion brand is set to close in less than two years
On Rihanna’s Twitter account, the image has added more than 40,000 retweets. Savage X Fenty also posted a photo to Instagram, which garnered over 345,000 likes, with the caption “Stay away from my Instagram, pure motivation”.
The controversy erupted two weeks after Rihanna split with India in support of farmers protesting the country’s new agricultural laws.
A number of critics were quick to link Rihanna’s decision to wear a Ganesha pendulum to her stance on the protests. Legislator Ram Kadam, a member of the ruling Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP), suggested that her intervention in the matter had been discredited.
