NASA says its robotic spacecraft sent to Mars has successfully landed. To the Jessero area, a crater near its equator.

The $ 2.7 billion six-wheeled robotic spacecraft is the latest technology ever built and will be tested on Mars for two years. It will examine evidence of ancient microbes on the planet.

Another purpose of the robotic spacecraft is to collect rock samples that could provide clues as to whether life ever existed on the Red Planet.
