London's famous New Year fireworks spectacle event canceled for second year

UNITED KINGDOM : London’s famous riverside New Year fireworks spectacle event has been canceled for the second year in a row.

Britain was in a severe freeze last year. But despite the removal of all restrictions, London Mayor Sadiq Khan again canceled the event.

A spokesman for the mayor explained why this year’s event is being canceled.
‘Last year the show happened in a slightly different way due to an epidemic. Many exciting new options are being considered as part of our New Year celebrations in London this year. As always, London welcomes the New Year in a wonderful way. ‘

There will be one more celebration in Trafalgar Square and details will be announced in due course.

The inaugural light show of 2021 was watched by millions of viewers on television.

Typically about 100,000 people will flock to the streets around the Victorian coast. Spectacular performances will take place on the Victoria bank and south bank of the River Thames.
