Germany has said it fully supports the EU’s imposition of new sanctions on Russia.
According to German Foreign Minister Haiko Mass, the imprisonment of Alexei Navalny, a Kremlin critic, shows that the country does not respect human rights.
Therefore, Germany is in favor of not only imposing new sanctions on Russia, but also preparing a list of individuals subject to sanctions. ‘
Reports have surfaced that a final decision on imposing sanctions on Russia could be made at the European Leaders’ Summit in Brussels in March.
Political observers say that if the European Union, a federation of 27 countries, makes this decision, its relations with Russia will be in jeopardy in the future.
Meanwhile, EU foreign policy chief Joseph Boral has said that Russia’s conflict with the EU over the issue is “apparent”.
It may be recalled that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had earlier said that Moscow was ready to sever ties with the European Union if it imposed sanctions on the country.Leave a comment
