A proposal to increase the number of permanent members of the UN Security Council was discussed at the Security Council meeting held yesterday.
Its current members are Britain, United States, Russia, China and France. In addition, ten other members will be appointed to the Security Council on a temporary basis.
At a Security Council meeting yesterday at UN headquarters in New York, its non-permanent members pointed out that the current number of permanent members is an outdated model.
There have been calls in the past for India and Brazil, in particular, to be made permanent members of the UN Security Council.Leave a comment
