China and Russia have formally announced that they will extend their friendship agreement for another five years.
The announcement was confirmed on video by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The two former communist countries, once enemies, have renewed their friendship amid threats from the West.
During the video conference, the leaders recalled the friendship agreement reached between the two sides in 2001 and were proud that their friendship had reached new heights in the intervening years.
Commenting on this, President Vladimir Putin stated that their international cooperation is sustainable because of their continued co-operation in foreign policy matters.
Putin also said that the possibility of forming a military alliance between the two countries in the future could not be ruled out.
Emphasizing the need for central cooperation between China and Russia, Xi Jinping said the two countries would shoulder each other’s shoulder in international forums on public welfare issues.Leave a comment
